Backworth Stud's Cape Town Princess (Miesque’s Approval - Moving On Up by Jallad) broke her maiden second time out at Durbanville Wednesday under a controlled ride by jockey Karl Neisius for trainer Dean Kannemeyer. She showed plenty of toe and was just off the leaders coming to the top of the home stretch before Neisius sent her for home with 300m to go. From there, Cape Town Princess never looked like losing and took a solid win from Ruby Sunset (AUS) (Host (Chi)) in second and Hickory Hill (Windrush) in third. Congratulations to owner Lady Christine Laidlaw.

Cape Town Princess is a half-sister to feature race winning filly, Raise The Bar (Goldkeeper) and is by Breeders Cup’ winner Miesque’s Approval (USA) out of the Jallad (USA) mare Moving On Up. The bay filly is a graduate from the Backworth draft of the 2011 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale. Another half-brother named Lucky Break (by Muhtafal) sold for R650 000 at the 2012 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale. The second dam of Cape Town Princess is Grade 3 winning Eternal Dancer with other Black-type winners including Chattaronga, Red Butler and Magnepoise.

Backworth Stud have had much success with the progeny of Miesque's Approval such as Sugar Rush, Devonesque, Truly Exclusive and Listed winner Top Of The Chocs (a half-brother to Gr 1 winner Chocolicious).

Count Me Lucky (Count Dubois - Royal Pardon by Dominion Royale) won impressively over 1600m at Arlington Friday under a fine ride from jockey Felix Coetzee for trainer, The Late Sean Miller.

Jumping well, Coetzee positioned Count Me Lucky in second on the rail. The 3-year-old gelding pulled clear with 400m to go and was eased up for a 2.25 length victory from Senor Doba (Cordoba (USA)) and Fatherandsons (Camden Park (USA)).

Congratulations to owners Mrs Ingrid and Mr Makus Jooste.

Count Me Lucky is a graduate from the Backworth draft of the 2010 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale, and is a half-brother to two winners.

Royal Pardon is a full-sister to 10-winning Something Else, a mulitiple Gr 2 and 3 winner. The dam-line includes the likes of Super Storm, Sunera(GB) and Centime(NZ).
