Clifton Stud have had more eye-catching foals by their lovely new stallion A.P. Answer. A.P Answer has all the credentials to be a successful sire, and has been recieving a quality book of mares. His foals have been impressive, all being lovely individuals. We have a look at a few the new-borns that arrived at the farm.
Admirer produced a beautiful strong colt by A.P. Answer on the 18 October (this photo taken a few hours after birth). His dam Admirer is by Capture Him(USA) out of Gleam Machine by Northern Guest - the mare has had 5 wins and earned R139,835 and she placed 13 times. Her fourth dam is Indian Jewel who produced a whopping 12 winners. They include two sires Green Opal and Hindu Star, each 9-time winners - with Green Opal winning the Grade 2 Gilbey Stakes. The Graded/Listed race winners include Thunder Jewel, Tampico, and Valdemar. Admirer is owned by Trevor Armitage, the breeder of Beach Beauty.
Divine Heights - by former Clifton resident stallion Divine Force out of Cheetham Hill by Print(GB) - is a 5-time winner of R235,200 including the Flamingo Stakes (Listed). She placed 7 times. She foaled a lovely chestnut colt on the 15 October by A.P. Answer. Divine Heights is the dam of 3 winners to date.
This is the dam-line of Best Dressed, Well Dressed, a Grade 2 winner, Fashion Maker - Grade 2 Castle Tankard winner, African Appeal - winner of the Grade 1 Champions Cup, Grade 3 events - Cup Trial and Peninsula Handicap.
Divine Heights' half-sister by Allied Flag(USA) - Cheetham Flag also produced a beautiful foal by A.P. Answer at the beginning of the season.
Ridge Shiraz by West Man out of Vino Rosa by Foveros - has foaled (on the 17 October) a beautiful - and very big - chestnut filly by A.P. Answer. Ridge Shiraz is a 4-time winner of R169,960 from a versatile distance of 1400 - 2450m and she placed 11 times. She is the dam of an unraced Black Minnaloushe colt and a yearling by Mogok.
Her dam, Vino Rosa won R383,200 at the track with a tally of 8 wins. These included the Newmarket Turf Club Stakes Grade 2, Viljoensdrif Handicap (Listed) and she placed 13 times, including the Telemedia 3-Y-O Sprint Grade 3.
This family includes Persian Summer, Grade 3 winner Summer Guest, Grade 3 Matchem Stakes winner Majestic Sun, KZN Gold-Vase winner Grade 2 Ship's Gossip, sire Majestic Crown - 11 time winner including multiple Graded wins in the Holiday Inns Grade 1, Natal Derby Grade 2, Summerveld Free Handicap Grade 3 and the Michaelmas Handicap (L), including placing fourth in the Rothmans July Grade 1, and ARCSA Champion 2 year old (in 1989 and 1990) Senor Santa, and Flight Alert.
Kali Mist by Rakeen - Fashing by Dancin Champ(USA) - had a beautiful filly out of A.P. Answer on 5 October. Kali Mist has been sent to Trippi for her next covering. Kali Mist placed from 4 starts and is the dam of 4 runners and 4 winners to date - including Maritime Mist who is a 5-time winner.
Fashing - the dam of Kali Mist was voted Equus Champion Broodmare in 2003. She won 3 races and placed 7 times. She is an own-sister to Fast Champ. She has foaled 8 winners to date that include Mast Abeam by Coastal - an 8-time winner several Listed Races and placing in a Grade 2 Handicap. Her other progeny include Donya - a 7-time winner including two Grade 3 wins and the dam of 3 winners herself including Drift Ice who has had 3 wins in Dubai.
Her best son however has been Yard-Arm by Western Winter. He was voted Equus Horse of the Year in 2003, Equus Champion Older Middle Distance Male in 2003 and achieved 10 wins including being a winner in Dubai and earning stakes of R3,701,250 over distances of 1200 - 2450m. His wins include the SA Derby Grade 1, J & B Met, Grade 1, Gold Challenge Grade 1, The Skeaping Champion Stakes Trophy Grade 1, Sun International Queen's Plate (WFA) Grade 1, Elevation Stakes Grade 2, Clairwood Cup Trial Grade 3, Al Fahidi Fort Grade3 and places in the Grade 1 Summer Cup and Grade 1 Durban July. He was subsequently exported to USA.
