Summer Ready To Run Sale: Results

With visitors from as far afield as Mauritius, Mogadishu, France and Cyprus, the 2015 Emperors Palace Summer Ready To Run Sale held at the School Of Equine Management Excellence at the magnificent Summerhill Stud, produced a satisfactory outcome in the current economic climate with the quality catalogue underpinning some enthusiastic bidding.

This quality sale has a history of producing a couple of smart performers for small money and it will no doubt be a similar case going forward after a busy Tuesday.

The top-priced horse was a lovely two year old grey colt named Terra Incognito [pictured above], by Kahal out of Mediterranean by Saumarez, in turn out of Rainbow Dream mare Manuka - who has produced the likes of sire Blue Tiger and Rodoille amongst others. He sold to Kom Naidoo for R260 000.

Pre-inspection by David Niewenhuizen and the syndicate who eventually secured the Visionaire filly, who enjoyed all the attention and head rubs she was receiving.

The top priced fillies each sold for R180 000, by Lot 31, a Muhtafal and Lot 64, a Visionaire.

The filly named Abbey Chase by Muhtafal sold to Nchakha Moloi. She is out of Labeeb mare Divine Secret, from the immediate family of Music Affair, Set To Music, Franny and Scented Royal.

The Visionaire filly named Floral Vision, a dead-ringer for her sire and the last on the catalogue of the Ready To Run horses, is out of Muhtafal mare Prize Flower from the damline of Neo Star(NZ) and Mr Mulliner.

She was sold to David Nieuwenhuizen on behalf of a very excited syndicate, who erupted joyously at securing the smart filly when Graeme Hawkins knocked the gavel down on to the podium, a wonderful sight to see.

The three stallion auction saw only Way West [pictured] sold and he went to top Gauteng trainer, Louis Goosen.

Mullins Bay, with regular winners, still has commercial wind in his sails, and with his owners buying out a shareholder who was looking for an exit, the public auction may have established a value.

Mick Goss and his team expressed their thanks to all who turned up to support the sale, as well as Michael Holmes Bloodstock, Graeme Hawkins, Joyce Webb for providing the awards and Hartford House.
