Warwick Render of Bush Hill Stud is proud to announce plenty of success as he gives a wrap-up of King's Chapel's breeding and racing season. "We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support of King's Chapel in his second season at stud in South Africa," he says. "The widespread support he received this year was testament not only to the credentials he arrived with, but to the news of the quality of the first crop of foals and his ongoing success on the tracks overseas. He has continued to have a phenomenal strike rate in New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Macau with very limited representation throughout the season. On that note let us give you the results he has had over the first three weeks of the New Year, with a total of 27 runs from his progeny with 6 wins and 6 places.

"His first winner of the year was the filly Negotiate who won over 2000m on 5 January. She then followed this up with a win over 1800m on the 12th January and just four days later - on the 16th - she won again over 1600m, bringing her career stats to a total of 20 starts for 6 wins 2 seconds and 4 thirds. This four year old chestnut filly certainly seems to be going in the right direction."

It is also interesting to note that she is a full sister to King's Ransom who was a very good two year old, winning a Gr 2, before sadly getting injured. Reports from his owner were that he too was a horse who was only going to get better as a three year old and the feeling was he was comfortably Gr 1 material. "Horses that are winning over sprints but with the ability to train on sound like what we are all looking for in South Africa," Warwick adds. "The dam here is a mare called Joan, by Colonel Collins (by El Gran Senor). Interestingly Colonel Collins can make no claims as a great sire having to date not sired a single stakes horse, proving how King's Chapel has upgraded this mare.

"On 11 January Ohope Prince came out and won over 1600m. This was his third win to go with two thirds from only 10 Career starts." Warwick continues, sayng: "This four year Old chestnut gelding is out of the mare Ginzapearl who is by Masterclass who in turn is by The Minstrel out of Monroe, again blood that we have plenty of in South Africa.

"The 3 year old filly Bathilda came out on the 14th January in Australia and won what was only her sixth start over 1400m, having previously run 2nd. Bathilda is out of the Star Way mare Argante.

"Finally on the 19th, Chapel Star had his second consecutive win over 1200m in New Zealand, bringing his career figures to seven runs for two Wins, a second and a fourth. He is a three year old chestnut gelding out of the Fiesta Star mare Staring, a good race filly who won over distances of 2000 - 2400m; she was 21 years old when she foaled this colt who has the speed to be winning over 1200m.

"A couple of the placed horses worth mentioning from this month would be Parishon who ran 2nd in Australia over 1600m - his race record so far is 12 runs for 2 wins, a second and a third - along with Boundless Glory's place over 1200m in Singapore where he has to date notched up four wins, three seconds and three places."

Lastly, Warwick talks about King's Chapel's Group 3 winner at the end of last year, King Montrose. "We have written about King Montrose previously, who had his second run since his win in the Gr 3 Stewards Cup on Saturday in the Gr 1 Telegraph Handicap.

"Over 1200m where King Montrose finished mid-field in going that was officially described as 'dead'. I am sure there will be more to come from this horse with him competing at the top level. Just to remind you he has, to-date, won nine races, has two seconds and four thirds from only 29 races. He is out of the Tights mare Dorrington. Again another good horse where King's Chapel has no doubt upgraded significantly as Tights himself has not sired a stakes winner.

"We hope that we can continue to bring you exciting news on this special horse's progeny as they continue to fly his flag on the international stage and we look forward with great anticipation to what they may do here in due course. Finally, we wish you all the very best for 2013, may it be a year filled with winners and great prices at the yearling sales and health and happiness in your homes!"
