It seems that exciting times lie ahead for A.P. Answer, after his very first and only runner to hit the track in South Africa has now won over 1000m at Turffontein yesterday. The filly named Snow Call, who didnt reach her reserve and was bought back at the 2013 KZN Yearling Sale, has now had just three runs - with a win and a place.

The bay filly was born and raised at Peter and Jenny Blyth's Clifton Stud (who stand A.P. Answer) on behalf of breeder Bruce Campbell.

Going off at 7/2 from a second draw, she won comfortably by over a length carrying 58kgs. The two year old is trained by Corne Spies and ridden by Fanie Chambers.

Green Crest (by Way West) and Trophy Wife (by Tiger Ridge) placed third and fourth respectively.

Snow Call is out of the mare Snow Goose by Northern Guest, bred by Bruce Campbell and owned in partnership with Bruce and Messrs E R Gertenbach & R J Murray, Miss T Roussos & Mr & Mrs A M Da C Quintas & T Spies.

The filly is a half-sister to two winners - Epic Flight (by Kahal) and Lets Fly Away (by Muhtafal). Second dam is Gr 3 placed Tales Of Winter, and family of The Eiger, The Monk, Winter Chord and Winter Lad.

A.P. Answer is one of KZN's exciting new sire prospects - and bred in the purple. A son of A.P. Indy out of a Danzig/Mr Prospector mare, herself a Champion Gr 1 winning filly named Pas De Reponse - his damline includes the likes of sires Storm Bird, Green Tune and A.P. Warrior. A.P. Answer won two races over turf in the USA - but his career was curtailed after a niggling near-fore knee injury.

Recent exciting news to come from this pedigree is Silentio, winner of the Gr 2 Citation Handicap at Hollywood Park in the USA at the end of November. Silentio also finished third in the 2013 Breeders Cup Mile (Gr 1). Silentio's dam is Listen A P, a three-parts sister to A.P. Answer - being by A.P. Indy and out of a Soundings mare - the latter being the second dam to both of them. Silentio is the winner of two Gr 2's, as well as placing in two Gr 1's and two Gr 2's in the USA to date.

At the recent Tattersalls December Mare Sale, Rosdhu Queen - a winner of the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes - sold to Coolmore for and incredible 2.1m Guineas. Sharing a remarkably similar facial marking to A.P. Answer, Rosdhu Queen is out of a Green Tune mare - Green Tune being out of A.P. Answer's second dam, once again - Soundings. Green Tune was also responsible for producing Melbourne Cup winner Green Moon.

A.P. Answer stands for a fee of R10 000 live foal for the 2013 season.
