Way West Half-Brother By Toreador Wins By 13 Lengths On Debut Toreador has had three winners in less than a week - with a double at the Vaal on Tuesday 5 May, including a two year old son - a half-brother to sire Way West, winning a dazzling debut by almost 13 lengths over 1200m from Seal My Fate, Neuf De Pape and Elusive Seven. The gelding named Prospect Strike is bred immaculately, out of mare Prospect Fever by Mr Prospector. This combination has produced two other full-siblings, both winners by Toreador - Abstract and Portrait. Way West is by Danehill, as is Toreador - clearly a proven nick with Prospect Fever. Trained by Dominic Zaki and ridden by Craig Zackey, Prospect Strike is bred by the Tawny Syndicate, owned by Messrs K A Haug, G L Blank and L M Nestadt. Way West was recently sold at auction to Louis Goosen who felt it right to repay the son of Danehill in kind, after numerous successes with his progeny. The other winner of the day came from Stairway To Heaven, the first win on turf over 1000m for the three year old Toreador filly. She is out of Highway by National Emblem, trained by Mr G Maroun and owned by Messrs J A Maroun and G J Maroun. Earlier in the week Silver Matador won at Turffontein over 1600m on turf, from Gypsy's Inn, Beluga Berry and Felix M. The three year old gelding has placed consistently, four times previously from his five starts. A versatile horse, he has placed second within three starts of eachother over 1200m and 2000m, both at Greyville racecourse. Silver Matador is owned by Messrs H Adams, D Chinsammy and C F Delport and trained by Weiho Mawing. Toreador stands at Bush Hill Stud, in 2014 his service was R15 000. One of the best value for money stallions around, his yearlings consistently sell well above the averages. Well done to all concerned.
