Al Miqdaam, standing in the KZN Midlands at Roy Moodley's farm has not only achieved a double on Friday night at Greyville with Al Ciberano and daughter Shikra, but also now has 100% record of producing runners to winners! It was also a double for breeder Robert Smith, who owns Shikra 100% and has retained a share in Al Ciberano.

Both lightly raced individuals, Shikra is trained by Lola Crawford (of Greenhill Farm - breeders of Gr1 winner Spiced Gold) based at Ashburton. The four year old filly is out of Northern Guest mare Bird Strike, and has previously just been out of the placings in her last three starts.

She won over 1600m on the polytrack under Deryl Daniels, jumping from 10th draw and winning by a quarter of a length from Tigress Poem, Timeforatiger and What An Answer.

A beautiful chestnut, Al Ciberano has had two wins - his first victory saw him not only romp to a victory over 1100m in his second start but he also set a new Class record in the process. His second win was again a comfortable one by two and half lengths over 1200m under Divan Neethling.

Trained by Tony Rivalland and who also owns a share in the horse along with breeder Robert Smith and Messrs G N Cumming, I Deetlefs and I M & M G Horsfield, Al Ciberano has placed twice, his previous start finishing second to Gemini Gold.

Al Ciberano is out of Carry It Far by Muhtafal. The mare is herself a winner, out of a Northern Guest/The Minstrel mare Princess Isis. This is the immediate damline of sires Salmon Leap, King's Lake and Glenstal.

The sire Al Miqdaam was trained by Mike De Kock and owned by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum during his racing career, placing from just a few starts. He is out of a Don't Say Halo mare named St Clemens Belle, with Al Ciberano being the first for the young sire.

Congratulations to all the winning connections and breeders Robert Smith and Roy Moodley.
