Summerhill Stallion Day Share

Hosted at the School Of Excellence, in typical Summerhill splendour, the day exuded class, fine food and wine, and of course the magnificent horses. The chilly weather didn't do anything to dampen the spirits of the 800 visitors from 21 different countries, who came to view Summerhill's finest Stallions on parade.

Investec sponsored the day, with Mick Goss saying "It has also been a privilege and pleasure to work with the Investec team," with everybody huddled on their blue blankets on the banks, sipping champagne and snacking on cheese biscuits as they watched.

This highlight of the Thoroughbred calendar has grown from the early days when 15 people were at the very first Stallion Day, to over 800 people including dignitaries, politicians and royalty from around the world.

The Stallion day, traditionally hosted the day after the running of the Vodacom Durban July, and by invitation only, was nothing short of fabulous with an impressive display from Summerhill's own Zulu Dancers who have competed internationally with great distinction and honour.

Mick Goss mentioned with pride the fact that Summerhill achieved the Vodacom Durban July first and second, saying, "We're delighted that two horses raised and grazed on Summerhill paddocks were the top two at the July," before giving a riveting speech on the depth of the history of the land Summerhill stands upon, thereafter introducing each stallion individually.

Stallions on display were the likes of Admire Main, A.P Arrow, Brave Tin Soldier, Muhtafal, Ravishing, Mullins Bay, Malhub, Solskjaer, Way West, Visionaire - a new very exciting stallion who joins the ranks this year for the 2011 season.
Bankable will also be having his first season this year, however he wasnt present at the parade. Muhtafal is looking splended for the age of 21, and he was very gentlemanly and professional in his manner. Kahal as always gave a fantastic show of his balance and athleticism, rearing playfully and showing himself off to the full.

The success of the previous day mixed with the stallion display and Mick's obvious passion for the Thoroughbred added to the vibrant atmosphere.
