Bush Hill's resident sire King's Chapel has a grand-daughter showing exceptional talent in Australia, after placing in a Gr3 just a week before she won the Merson Cooper Stakes.

Qatar Bloodstock celebrated a valuable Black Type win with promising Sebring filly Thurlow, who scored a thrilling nose win in the Listed race at Sandown.

A close second in the Gr3 two year-old fillies race at Flemington on Cup Day, the Robert Smerdon trained Thurlow atoned with a strong finishing win that will see her aimed at the Gr1 MRC Blue Diamond Stakes in the autumn.

Smerdon will send Thurlow for a break but she will return early next year for a possible crack at the Blue Diamond.

Predicting the filly to take plenty of benefit from the experience, Jockey Craig Williams said it was a good effort to win from an awkward position in the run.

"She’s already a Stakes filly today but she’s definitely got really big upside and I can’t wait until she grows and comes back in the autumn,” Williams said.

"She’s got a fantastic attitude and a really good motor."

"She’s come a long way. She’s handled it really well and you’d like to think in the autumn she might be a Blue Diamond-type filly," Smerdon said.

A $150,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Widden Stud draft for David Redvers, Thurlow was also bred by Widden and is the first foal of stakes-winning King’s Chapel mare Princess Emmy (NZ), who has a Northern Meteor yearling filly and was covered again by Sebring last spring.

Thurlow is the 11th stakes-winner for Sebring, who is the most represented sire at the 2015 Magic Millions and covered Black Caviar this season. King's Chapel's daughter Annesbrook(NZ) out of Arche recently won over 1400m in New Zealand, whilst gelding Pharrell placed second over 1742m.

King's Chapel stands for a service fee of R15 000 this season.
