Judicial gave his sire Miesque's Approval a fantastic Gr2 win yesterday at Turffontein in the Victory Moon Stakes over 1800m.

The bay Scott Bros-bred gelding has taken home three wins back to back, at the Vaal and Turffontein over 1800 - 2000m and in the process has highlighted his name as a strong contender for the Gr1 Summer Cup.

Running powerfully and enjoying the slightly soft going, Judicial was chased all the way to the line by Earl Of Derby and Everest, who eventually stayed on gamely for third, while Judicial grabbed the win by three quarters of a length under Karl Zechner at odds of 16/1.

Out of mare Lady Advocate by Dolpour, Judicial is a R250 000 National Two Year Old sale graduate. His consistent half-sister is Legal Lady, a daughter of Mogok who has won twice and placed 24 times - twelve of them second!

This is Judicial's fourth win to date, and he has registered six places in total, including just over a length off Winter Star in the Ready To Run Cup and three lengths off Ilitshe in the Derby Trial (Listed). He has earned R875 750 in stakes.

Congratulations to trainer Tyrone Zackey and owners Mr K P & Mrs N M Backos & Mr S F G Habib.

Consistently in the top 10 of the National Sires Log by Stakes Earned, Miesque's Approval has sired the likes of Gr3 winning Eton Square, (who went on to place in the Vodacom Durban July and currently racing in Hong Kong), five-time Zimbabwean Stakes winning Approval Rating and East Cape Nursery Listed winner Shine Like A Star.

Melson, a beautiful half-brother to brilliant Gr1 Champions Cup winner Orbison, recently finished third at Greyville in the KZN Guineas Listed Trial over 1600m and has yet to be out of the money from eight starts, two of them wins.

Miesque's Approval currently leads the sportingpost.co.za's stats in the category of "Leading Sires By Stakes on Artifical Going", as of 9 November 2014, with the likes of Kahal, Dynasty and Var following suit.

A very tough and sound individual, Miesque's Approval was an Eclipse Award winner in the USA with 12 wins and earning a very respectable $2,612,529 in stakes. He won over distances of 1600-1800m including the Breeders Cup Mile Gr.1, Makers Mark Mile Stakes, Gr.2, Firecracker Handicap, Gr.2, Red Bank Stakes, Gr.3, Kent Stakes, Gr.3, and the Pilgrim Stakes and achieved a Time Form Rating of 126.

Miesque's Approval was also voted Champion Turf Horse in USA in 2006 as well as being the highest ranked horse in the world from the Mr Prospector line of that year.

His half-brothers include multiple Stakes and 20-time winning Revved Up as well as the grey Za Approval (by Ghostzapper) - who finished second to Wise Dan in the 2013 Gr1 Breeders Cup Mile, and has placed second in two other Gr1's - the Woodbine Mile and Shoemaker Stakes.

In September this year Za Approval won the Real Courage Listed, as well as adding three Gr3's in 2013 amongst top company.

His sire Miesque's Son was a multiple Gr 1 placed Gr 3 winner in France (Timeform 117) and a full brother to successful sire Kingmambo. Their dam is Miesque - a dual Breeder's Cup Mile winner. Miesque's Son is the sire of Gr1 winners and a Sire of Sires.

Miesque's Approval stands for a fee of R35 000.
